In a country of 70+ million people, 98% of the population holds to Islamic beliefs; the remaining 2% is made up of Christian, Jew, Bahi or Zoaroastric believers, groups that are severely dealt with by the government.

Yet, in spite of strict censorship, severe penalties for showing an interest in Christianity, and interference with the radio signal, the response to the gospel by Persian-speaking people has been very positive. In fact, over the past 27 years, more Persian-speaking people have converted to Christ than in the last 150 years! Sorrow and suffering have caused many to reject Islam and find peace and healing in Christ when they hear the Word of God. Only God knows how many have become Christians because many cannot write nor do they have a local fellowship of Christians with whom they can meet.

Today there is a small but vibrant church in Iran. Most of the believers fellowship and worship in homes, and there are house churches all over the country.

Trans World Radio broadcasts a Christian radio program one hour each evening, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. Together with Voice of Christ Media Ministries, we broadcast two hours daily on Short Wave radio and 24/7 on Satellite Radio and the Internet. On www.PersianVoice.org people can read messages, books and tracts; listen to sermons and songs of praise and worship; and correspond and interact with spiritual mentors.

It is our goal to

• Share the good news of the gospel;
• Teach the whole counsel of God;
• Disciple Iranian Christians;
• Train Christian evangelists and leaders; and
• Establish the Church in Iran for God’s glory.

Through partnerships with like-minded ministries, with national workers and the local Church in Iran, these goals are being met. In an amazing way that is beyond our understanding, God is working in Iran. Through Christian radio and Satellite, TV programs, the Internet and Christian literature, God is bringing more Persian-speaking people to Himself.
