Persian-Speaking Ministry
The Islamic Republic of Iran has a population of 78 million, and is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations. Shia Islam is the state's official religion, and only 2% of the population belong to a non-Muslim faith. Christianity is 1 of 3 religions outside of Islam officially recognized by the government, but believers are greatly limited in their freedom to share their faith, and have faced severe persecution.
Christianity in Iran
Despite censorship, harsh penalties for showing an interest in Christianity, social repercussions, and interference with the radio signal, the response to the Gospel by Persian-speaking people has been very positive. Radio, satellite and the Internet know no political boundaries.
Today there is a small but vibrant church in Iran. Most believers fellowship and worship in house churches all over the country.
How TWR reaches persecuted Christians
TWR Canada funds and broadcasts a daily Christian radio program. Together with Voice of Christ Media Ministries, we broadcast two hours daily on short wave radio, and 24/7 on satellite radio and the Internet. On www.PersianVoice.org people can read messages, books and tracts, listen to sermons and worship music, and correspond and interact with spiritual mentors.
Our goals are simple.
- Share the good news of the Gospel
- Teach the whole Word of God
- Disciple Iranian Christians
- Train Christian evangelists and leaders
- Establish the Church in Iran for God’s glory
Changing Lives
"In the name of God I am writing this letter to thank you dear people for what you are doing. Your programs are very good and have caused me to think about spiritual things. I am not a spiritual person, but rather a normal Iranian boy thinking about how I can survive. At the same time, every night when I listen to your program, it seems as if I receive water to quench my thirsty soul."
"...I want to sincerely thank you for your programs. Because of them, I have come to know the Lord and just had the privilege to be baptized. I praise God for the privilege of knowing Him. As long as I live I will not forget that it was your programs that planted the seed in my heart."
