Millions of women around the world face unimaginable horrors from wars that never seem to end; natural disasters that steal their families and homes; diseases that ravage their bodies; poverty and illiteracy that leave them struggling to merely survive. And worse, many are trapped in the silence of their pain, with no one to speak on their behalf, no one to listen to their needs.
It was in response to this very need that Project Hannah (PH) was born over ten years ago. As the women's ministry of Trans World Radio (TWR), PH's purpose is to
- raise awareness of and empathy for the plight of women worldwide.
- pray for women who are being abused emotionally, physically or spiritually.
- broadcast the Gospel of Jesus Christ to women around the world, encouraging them to:
- experience God's love, freedom and power as they face life's daily challenges.
- embrace their God-given destiny and glorious inheritance in Christ Jesus, whatever their cultural, social or economic situation.
- pass on to their children a legacy of faith, wisdom and godly character.
Awareness: In order to pray more specifically, it is necessary to be aware of what suffering women deal with every day. Each month, PH provides a prayer guide with information focusing on a particular people group, country or issue. These are translated and distributed in more than 40 languages to thousands of intercessors around the world.
Prayer: This is the backbone of Project Hannah-mobilizing individuals, churches, and women's groups to participate in its Global Prayer Movement. Countless women and men are using the prayer guide, asking God to intervene on behalf of oppressed women.
Broadcasts: The Women of Hope (WoH) broadcasts are conversational friend-to-friend style programs that are simple and attractive, yet challenging. They share practical advice and personal experiences relative to the listeners, as well as spiritual teaching for their daily lives. The 30-minute broadcast is touching hearts and instilling the hope of Jesus Christ and today can be heard in 56 languages!
Since it's beginning, God has been working mightily to share His transforming love, using PH as a catalyst for His people to stand in the gap for these hurting women, raising voices in prayer on their behalf. His power is transforming whole families and forming worshipping communities across the globe. He is empowering PH teams with courage and grace as they face opposition. He is releasing and lifting women above their dire circumstances, restoring their dignity and carrying them where they belong - into the Father's kingdom. And then they can rejoice in Him and declare, "For You have rescued my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling." (Psalms 116:8, NASB)
