POLICY FOR THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

As a Christian organization, Trans World Radio (TWR) Canada’s mandate is to conduct all of its affairs with integrity and above reproach, both in the sight of God and man. That accountability includes a commitment to operate with the highest level of truthfulness and to respect an individual’s control over how their personal information is handled.
Our Privacy Policy has been developed to comply with the ten principles set out in the Federal government’s privacy legislation: The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”).
1. Accountability
We are responsible for and will protect all personal information in our possession or control.
2. Identifying Purposes
We will collect, use and disclose personal information as it is reasonably required to:
- Communicate with you,
- Keep an accurate record of your donation history,
- Discern specific areas of ministry in which you may be interested, and
- Interact with your bank and/or credit card company solely as necessary to perform the service provided by TWR Canada, as per your authorization.
If we use your personal information for any other purpose than listed above, we will explain the purpose and obtain your consent.
3. Consent
We will obtain your consent for the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information except where authorized by law.
4. Limiting Collection
We will not collect, use or disclose your personal information indiscriminately. Both the amount and type of information collected shall be limited to that which is necessary to fulfill the purposes identified.
5. Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
We will not use or disclose your personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with your consent or as required by law, and any use of personal information shall be properly documented. We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary for the identified purposes or as required by law.
6. Accuracy
As reasonable, we will ensure that the personal information in our possession and control is accurate, complete and up to date based on the most recent information available to TWR Canada.
7. Safeguards
We will maintain physical, organizational and technological measures to ensure your personal information is protected against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
8. Openness
We will remain open about our policies and practices regarding the management of your personal information. A printed copy of the complete Policy may be requested by mail or e-mail at the addresses below.
9. Individual Access
Upon your request, we will inform you of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal information which is in our possession and control. You have the right to request changes if required. We will respond to your request within 30 days of receiving your written request.
10. Challenging Compliance
